The Personal Data Protection Authority has pronounced itself on a case concerning a complaint for surveillance video cameras in a small apartment house.
It has been complained that the public and private property of the complainant has been controlled without the consent, but also that the control was regarding also the public space. In addition, it has been complained the lack of labelling for the electronical control.
Owners of the surveillance video cameras have affirmed that the purpose was to demonstrate that the complainant was not in compliance with their agreement on the usage of common areas and that his dog was relieving itself on the ground and on steps of the entrance.
Owners have not demonstrated which has been the need of the control, so the conclusion of the Authority has been that the control was not in compliance to the legislation, and therefore they have been charged of stop the control and delete all the acquired information.
