It is worrying the phenomenon which is
developed in Abruzzo of a detailed list with a name, surname, date of birth, address of residence of persons of Roma ethnic origin who are coronavirus infected and which circulate in Whatsapp and on other Internet chats.

The motivation for the angry advertising of this sensitive data is the lack of compliance with the rules during a funeral in Campobasso where those coronavirus affected participated on 30 April during the lockdown, when there is a ban on participating in funerals and crossing the confines. From this act resulted in a contagion of 60 infections in Molise and 26 to Vasto.

The alert was given by the mayor of Vasto, Francesco Menna, during a Facebook direct, who expressed his concern: “In addition to the personal data of Covid-19 patients disseminated in chats, on Whatsapp groups and on other sites, are present also violent videos and this prompted me to file a complaint”.

Despite the understanding of the anger of the citizens, as reported by the Messaggero, the mayor of Vasto made an “appeal to responsibility, even by those who are disseminating the personal data of people affected and video”, also announcing the use of judicial and civil proceedings against persons who have disseminated those sensitive data.

For this reason, it is important to stress that if a citizen is aware of subjects who violate the laws, a justice “do it yourself” in social media may involve violations of the Privacy Code, and it is the task of the authorities to investigate and take proper procedures for any unlawful conduct must be reported to the police or the police, who will be responsible for implementing the prescribed measures.
