DUTCH SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY: fine on Clearview because of illegal data collection for facial recognition

The Dutch Data Protection Authority (Dutch DPA) imposes a fine of 30.5 million euro and orders subject to a penalty for non-compliance up to more than 5 million euro on Clearview AI. Clearview is an American company that offers facial recognition services. Among other things, Clearview has built an illegal database with billions of photos of faces, including of Dutch people. HONG KONG SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY: A 50-year-old Female Arrested forSuspected Doxxing Arising from Monetary Disputes

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) today arrested a Chinese female aged 50in the New Territories. The arrested person was suspected to have disclosed the personal data of two data subjects without their consents, in contravention of section 64(3A) of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO).
