The unit has participated to the virtual round table “Responsibility for privacy, transparency and data exchange responsible in Latin America during and after the COVID-19”organized by the Center for Information Policy Leadership (CIPL).
The activity took place the 1 July and has faced the data protection idea during the pandemic period, the role of the companies in offering information in order to mitigate effects and the challenges that the Authorities must face with.
The event began with a thesis on the clinical information condition use, the people tracking and the contact tracking, which was given by Enric Alvarez, physical director of the Polytechnical University in Catalogna.
Subsequently, representatives of the regional security authorities offered an overview of the issue in their countries: Doc. Eduardo Bertoni, the Director of Argentina’s Agency for Access to Public Information; Dr. José Antonio Ziebarth of the Brazilian Ministry of Economy; and Dr. Gonzalo Sosa, representing the URCDP.
In its speech, Sosa has examined the born and the regulamentation of personal data in Uruguay and the actions done by the unit in order to guide controllers and processors into the Covid-19 health information process. In addition, it mentioned the privacy since the solutions design to solutions in order to manage information and underlined also the relevance of the application of ethical frameworks in the processing of data.
The instance ended with an exchange space involving companies such as Facebook, Uber, IBM Brasil and Google. There, valuable inputs emerged on how governments perform data processing, proactive liability measures, the principle of “purpose” in the collection of personal data, and the deletion of information after the end of the health emergency.
