The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) is launching this year’s coordinated effort. This year, the topic is the right to erasure, and the Danish Data Protection Authority is participating for the third year in a row.
During 2025, 32 supervisory authorities in the EU/EEA will carry out various efforts focusing on the right to erasure.
The right to erasure means that a data subject – with certain exceptions – has the right to have information about him or her deleted. The EDPB has chosen to focus on the right to erasure as it is one of the most used rights and one of the rights about which supervisory authorities often receive complaints.
The individual supervisory authorities themselves organize their national investigations as they deem most appropriate. The Danish Data Protection Authority will publish a news item on its website in the near future with a description of how the authority will organize its investigation.
The results of the national surveys will be included in a comprehensive report that will be published. The report will provide insight into where data controllers experience challenges with the right to erasure and will allow for targeted follow-up at both national and EU level.
