The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has adopted the final version of the guidelines on connected vehicles. In addition the EDPV has adopted the first version of the guidelines for voice assistants.
With guidelines, the European Data Protection Supervisories, united into the EDPB, illustrate the privacy rules for a specific argument.
Connected vehicles
Modern cars are frequently “connected”.
Laptops, connected to the internet.
Frequently they collect personal data, like data on the position and data on the guide style.
Car manufactures and parts like the car rental companies shall respect the privacy of the driver of the car. Those guidelines will help those parts in doing it.
The EDPB has published the first version of the guideline for connected vehicles in February 2020. The affected parts, like the same car manufacturer, were able to reply to the document. The EDPB has integrated these replies into the final version of the guidelines on connected vehicles.

A virtual voice assistant or a voice assistant is an app that you manage with your voice. Today in the majority of phones, tablets and computer (like Siri, Google Assistant or Alexa).
But a voice assistant is more and more integrated in other equipment, like smart speaker cables. A voice assistant knows a lot about you, like the history of researches and appointments in your calendar.
In guidelines on virtual voice assistants, the EDPB prescribes how parts which offer or develop voice assistants shall process personal data which are processed in this process.

Guidelines for voice assistants are still not definitive. Interested parties can comment till the 23rd of April 2021, using the EDPB’s website. After the consultation, the EDPB establishes the definitive guidelines.
