The Senior Officer of the Italian Financial Police, Gen. C.A. Giuseppe Zafara and the president of the Italian Data Protection Authority, Prof. Avv. Pasquale Stanzione, have signed today in Rome, at the Station “Piave”, headquarter of the General Command of the Body, the Memorandum of understanding about the cooperation between the two institutions.
The Memorandum requires the implementation of existing synergies aimed at improving the overall effectiveness of the activities related to the monitoring of compliance with the rules governing the protection of personal data, by virtue of the new powers entrusted to the Supervisor by national and Community legislation.
The areas of the partnership see the active role of the Privacy Group of the Special Core Protection of Privacy and Technological Fraud, which ensures, with national projection, the requirements related to the collaborative activity, also making use of the Departments of the Corps located on the territory and involving the other articulations of the aforementioned Core for all those verification activities that require a high specialization in telematics.
The Memorandum therefore constitutes an instrument for the decisive strengthening of the lines of enforcement of legality in the market for goods and services, to protect all citizens, in a segment as important as delicate, also because of the potential vulnerability of personal and sensitive data, if not processed according to current provisions.
