There were also companies for teachers, parents and even seniors. The scholastic data processing officers also supported many activities.
We invite you to get more information.
In Zielonka, teachers, DPO and parents combined their forces in order to support students.
At the elementary school in Zielonka (Voivodato di Kuyavian-Pomerania), a Data Protection Officer joined the educational activities, who together with the school coordinator of the program conducted classes with students. ─ The initiating factor is the fact that, as inspectors, we are the parents of an 11-year-old and we see the devastation of uncontrolled internet access in the minds of young people. Hence the idea of discussing online safety in meetings with students. As it turned out, very timely and necessary – emphasizes the coordinator of the program and at the same time deputy DPO in SP in Zielonka, Hanna Kaczmarczyk.
In addition, workshops were carried out with teachers who learned about online privacy scenarios and discussed the needs and opportunities for parents, teachers and DPO to raise awareness of the risks ingit.
In addition, a meeting was organized for parents, during which the program “Your data ─ your Concern” was presented and explained what privacy is and how to protect it. ─ The most important thing in privacy education is to make parents aware that they have a 100% impact on how much time their children spend online. Parents need to know what dangers children may face online, and they should be reminded. The problem of internet addiction of increasingly younger children is due, in our opinion, to the lack of awareness of parents – emphasized Hanna Kaczmarczyk. ─ In the second place, children should be educated and both the school management, the data protection officer and teachers can be involved, with not only computer science but a whole teaching group, so as to alert the class educators to this subject, stresses the programme coordinator. Furthermore, it is good practice to ensure that activities are accountable by school management to teachers and parents on the protection of personal data via an e-journal.
Celestynów and Isabella also taught to teachers.
Educational initiatives implemented in the program “Your data ─ your Concern” are also used to educate teachers. This is from the formula of the programme, which every year provides teachers with “fresh and practical knowledge” on data protection and privacy. An example of such an initiative is training at the Public Primary School. Battalion “Zośka” in Celestynów (Mazovian Province). The members of the teaching council learned about the methods of protection of personal data and respect for privacy, and the training was carried out by project implementers on the basis of materials made available on the www.uodo.gov.pl website, including the guide “Protection of personal data in schools and educational institutions. Guide” and the knowledge of the program’s own school coordinator, acquired in the UODO educational program.
The subject matter of the training was focused on selected aspects of data protection, but crucial for schools m.in: online security, processing of students’ personal data, including sharing their image, participating in competitions or providing information about the student (by phone/third parties). The training was also an opportunity to explain the leak of personal data or the consequences of the loss of the work pendriva. ─ Teachers, learning the ins and outs of protecting their own privacy, will more easily explain the dangers to their students, because each person should consciously move in the global space ─ emphasized the school teacher in Celestynów, Joanna Drozd.
Teachers were also placed in another Mazovian institution. In Primary School im. Stanislaw Królicki’s church in Isabelin held a workshop entitled “Protect your image on the web” using multimedia applications. The workshop was led by the school coordinator of the Honorata Glazer program. ─ The biggest advantage of the classes was that the participants could prepare an interesting educational lesson on the protection of personal data, and I could share the materials and information that I received in the training “Your data ─ Your Concern” ─ explained the teacher of the Isabella elementary school.
In Dylągówka, the educational game encouraged students to change their behaviour.
In Primary School the PCK in Dylągówka (Podkarpackie Province) conducted a team interactive competition “Safe Internet” on online safety using a platform for creating interactive games. The game was created in order to check and consolidate students’ knowledge on topics: internet security, personal data and their protection, prevent unwanted behavior on the web. ─ In our opinion, the most important thing in education on the protection of personal data is prevention, that is, prevention, by making students aware of the consequences of inappropriate online behavior, affecting emotions, stimulating reflection by giving concrete examples of irresponsible behavior and their consequences. In short, attention to your image on the web ─ stated the teacher and coordinator of the program, Halina Bogdan.
Selected educational initiatives were implemented as part of the tenth edition of the nationwide program “Your data – your Concern”. A full list of initiatives is available below.
We thank the school coordinators of the “Your data ─ your Concern” programme and the students for all the efforts undertaken and for their incredible commitment to protecting the privacy of children and young people. Let us cooperate and share knowledge!
