The EDPB has adopted the final version of the guidelines on the right to be forgotten into search engines (part 1).
Guidelines explain the article 17 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) into search engine context on the Net.
Their aim is to provide guidance on the reasons on which individuals can rely when applying for the right to delete /oblivion/ in relation to links to websites containing their personal data and exceptions to the right to erasure /oblivion/ that internet search engine operators could use to reject such a request.
The guidelines will, later, be supplemented by an annex on the assessment of the criteria for the handling of individual complaints by data protection supervisory authorities following the rejection of a request by internet search engine operators.
