The Spanish Protection Agency’s “For Everything That Lies Behind” campaign has received the Internet Users Association Award for Best Institutional Online Advertising Campaign.
The aim of these awards is to recognise those initiatives, people or organisations that have distinguished themselves most, in the year preceding their presentation, in promoting, innovating or facilitating the use of the Internet and new technologies in their respective categories.
The ‘For All That Stands Behind’ campaign aims to promote the use of the Agency’s Priority Channel to denounce the dissemination on the Internet of sexual or violent content posted without the permission of the persons appearing in it, particularly in cases of child molestation or sexual violence against women.
The percentage of withdrawals of this type of content from the requirements sent by the Agency exceeds 90%, while the remaining 10% is pending .
‘For All That Is Behind’ seeks to show the story that could be behind a simple submission to demonstrate the serious consequences of spreading sensitive images, videos or audio on the Internet.
The target audience of the campaign, which promotes the denunciation of this type of content, is not only the people who might be victims of the transmission at some point, but also all those who are aware of the situation and who also have the possibility of reporting it to the Agency and those who, without thinking about it or out of ignorance, contribute to the dissemination of this content on the Internet and may incur not only administrative, but also disciplinary, civil and criminal liability.
During the gala award ceremony held on 15 May (full video of the gala evening), the Agency’s Director, Mar Spain, thanked the jury for awarding this prize and, above all, “the brave people who dare to denounce these events”. Likewise, he also stressed that the campaign would not have been possible without the work of the Agency’s professionals, “who have become an initiative with a strong social impact: removing violent or sexual content that is spread online without the permission of the people who appear in them”.
The director also stressed that not everything is worth on the Internet, that this type of content can not be spread without consequences and that actions such as this campaign of the priority channel are essential for citizens to know that they can denounce to try to stop digital violence.
