The Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) has updated its catalogue of video in which it helps to set up our privacy options and security of the main operating systems, web browsers, social networks and the most used apps.
The new technologies are an essential element in the everyday life of million people. The 64,7% of the population between 16 and 74 years old use social networks like Instagram, Facebbok, Twitter or YouTube, according to reports from the 2020 of INE “Survey and Equipment and Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Homes”. Anyway, not everyone know the privacy options which are offered in order to default settings and steps who must follow if they desire to change them.
The Agency, which had already a selection of tutorials in order to help users in these services in changing their privacy options, has updated its archive for Android and iOS systems; the browser web Firefox; social networks Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Whtsapp. It has also involved new videos, like those one of Chrome and Edge, Telegram and the social media TikTok.
Videos start with a short introduction which explains what each service is and why it is provided. Then, they carry out a more detailed revision which shall guide users in privacy setting options and security ones, in order to provide advice for the election of the best privacy level.
Change settings in order that only the contact can see out profile photo or disable the our last connection time on Whatsapp; manage who can see our Facebook activity and how other users can find us and contact us; or activate the option “private account” on TikTok in order than only users which we accept can see and follow our profile, those are the options that are discussed into the video.
