The 1 of January 2021 the Data Inspectora will change name and will become the Integrity Protection Authority. The abbreviation will be IMY.
At the turn of the year the Data Inspectorate will change his name for personal data protection after a decision of Riksdag. The abbreviation will be IMY. The change of name marks the change of employment which is already in place at the authority since the introduction of the Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
– We are a change authority.
The extension of the mandate we received in connection with the 2018 data protection reform requires a developed company to be able to meet the needs of citizens and businesses. The name change is welcome and gives us new strength to work with our core mission, to take advantage of citizens’ privacy rights, says Lena Lindgren Schelin, Managing Director.
Basically, IMY has the same task as the Data Inspectorate. This means continuing to work to protect citizens’ personal data, for example on health and finances, so that it is properly managed and does not fall into the wrong hands.
– We are now working hard to achieve as good a transition as possible. At the turn of the year, we will change the graphic profile and in spring 2021 we will launch a new website with improved search function, structure and content for both companies and individuals.
