DANISH SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY: GDPR universe for small associations

DANISH SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY: GDPR universe for small associations

Today, the Norwegian Data Protection Authority is launching a new guidance universe on GDPR for small associations. The guidance universe offers good advice and concrete examples that are tailored to the challenges that smaller associations face.

The Norwegian Data Protection Authority has launched a new guidance universe specifically targeted at small associations. The goal of the GDPR universe for smaller associations is to make the GDPR rules more accessible.

The universe is built around 7 steps that associations can follow to comply with GDPR. Each step contains concrete examples and good advice, which are categorized according to different types of associations. The material also consists of a comprehensive FAQ as well as down-to-earth descriptions of the basic concepts of the GDPR.

The guidance universe can be used by all types of associations – regardless of size. The Danish Data Protection Authority has chosen to focus on smaller associations, because these often do not have employees with legal skills to translate the GDPR rules into their daily work.

The Danish Data Protection Authority has collaborated with three associations

The GDPR universe for small associations has been developed in collaboration with Andelsboligforeningernes Fællesrepresentation (ABF), the sports organization DGI and the Foundation for Social Responsibility. All three associations are representatives of the target group.

“It is a very good guidance material that the Danish Data Protection Authority has developed for associations. It supplements our own advice to the many associations led by volunteers who need a guide from the Danish Data Protection Authority in their work, who explains the data protection rules in easy-to-understand language with good examples that the volunteers can recognize from everyday life.” says Steen From Andersen, head of legal affairs at DGI, and continues:

“It is also good information for the many members of the associations. The GDPR and the Data Protection Act are not easy matters, but it becomes easier for association life with this guide.”
