Objectives:
Data Storage and Operations involve the design, implementation and support of stored data to maximaze its value troughout its life cycle, from the creation/acquisition to the removal.
Data Storage and Operations include two secondary activities: database support and database’s technology support.
The objectives of Data Storage and Operations include:
- Managing data availability troughout its life cycle
- Ensuring data assets’ integrity
- Managing data transactions’ performances
The
Activities carried out by our Team:
Managing database technology
The management of database technology must follow the same principles and standards for the management of any technology. The main reference model for technology management is Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), a model of techonolgy management process developed in the United Kingdom. The ITIL principles apply to data technology management.
Managing databases
Databases’ support, as provided by DBAs and Network Storage Administrator (NSA), lies at the heart of Data Management. DBAs manage many data storage applications by assigning storage structures, maintaining physical databases (including physical data models and physical data layouts, e.g. assignments to specific files or disk areas) and establishing DBMS environments on servers.
