CNPD joins the celebrations, encouraging citizens to look at the alternatives that exist online and choose who values their privacy most.
It was 42 years ago that, on January 28, the first international legal instrument on data protection was signed within the Council of Europe – Convention 108. The symbolism of the date, which was at the origin of the creation of European Data Protection Day data, has now reached an international dimension that has crossed borders, marking the date on all continents.
The European Data Protection Board also joined the celebration of this day with a video that you can see subtitled in Portuguese, and which shows how the data protection authorities of the European Economic Area, including the CNPD, cooperate with each other in defending fundamental rights to data protection and privacy.
