Whatsapp, the new privacy policy offered to users is not clear.

Whatsapp, the new privacy policy offered to users is not clear.

The message with which Whatsapp has warned its users about updates which will be made, since the 8 of February, about terms of service – in particular about data sharing with other companies of the same group – and the same policy about personal data protection, are not so clear and legible and shall be carefully evaluated in the light of privacy. It was made known with a press release by the same Authority of personal data Protection.

For this reason the personal data protection authority has bring the question to the attention of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB), the group which reunites the european privacy authorities.

The Italian DPA thinks that from terms of service and the new policy is not possible, for users, understand which changes will be introduced and neither understand which data processing will be made after the 8 of February.

This policy does not appear suitable to allow Whatsapp users to express their free and aware will.

The Italian DPA, specifies the report, reserves the right of taking actions, urgently, in order to protect italian users and enforce the discipline about personal data protection.
